After my bac, I moved to Strasbourg to do a bachelor in Life Sciences, followed by a master’s in Cellular and Integrative Neuroscience, that I also did in Strasbourg. It’s your standard path, I guess.
- What you're currently doing:
I’m a first year PhD student at the INCI. I’m in the “Nociceptive Signaling in the spinal cord” team. I’m working on the implication of glial cells (and more specifically astrocytes) in activity dependent plasticity of spinal inhibition in the dorsal horn. I mostly use an electrophysiological approach to study this. - What brought you to do that:
I really liked patch-clamp during the master’s (yes, indeed, it happens), and wanted to study this technique for the master’s internship. I’d only been initiated with a short summer internship. There’s something truly amazing and quite addictive about listening to a single cell’s electrical activity. I love it. So I looked for a master’s internship with patch clamp, and met with my current PhD advisor, loved the project and the team. I managed to get the funding for the PhD so here I am.
- What you'd like to do after that:
have no idea. We’ll see if I decide to try to continue with an academic career of if I discover something else in the next 3 (more realistically 4) years. I’m staying open to anything.
- What brought you to invest yourself in Doctoneuro:
Organizing the first-year day at the end of my first year of master’s. I’d never been involved with any association before and I really loved it. Still do. - What are your projects/objectives for Doctoneuro:
I want to help Léa with her agenda, and mostly with our big scientific animation projects. I’m really excited about these. Also, I really want to continue promoting integration of all students in doctoneuro’s projects, to promote cohesion. The first step will be systematic English speaking at all of our events, and not just translate what’s being said. Science is a diverse world, we need to integrate everyone. - Final words?

- Ton parcours scolaire : Après mon bac, je suis venue à Strasbourg pour la licence Sciences de la Vie. J’ai beaucoup aimé les cours d’introduction en neurosciences qu’on avait eu, donc j’ai poursuivi avec le master de Neurosciences Cellulaires et Intégrées, à Strasbourg aussi. C’est pas très original, c’est vrai.
- Ce que tu fais actuellement :
Je suis en première année de thèse à l’INCI. Je suis dans l’équipe « signalisation nociceptive dans la moelle épinière » et je travaille sur l’implication des cellules gliales (et plus spécifiquement, les astrocytes) dans la plasticité activité dépendante de l’inhibition spinale au sein de la corne dorsale. Et pour étudier ça, j’utilise principalement une approche électrophysiologique.
- Ce qui t’as amené à faire ça :
J’ai fait un stage d’initiation au patch-clamp l’été après le M1 et ça m’a vraiment beaucoup plu. Il y a quelque chose de presque magique et très addictif à enregistrer l’activité de cellules. Ça me plaît beaucoup. J’ai donc cherché un stage de M2 avec du patch. J’ai rencontré ma maître de thèse actuelle, découvert le projet, l’équipe et je ne suis pas repartie. - Ce que tu veux/penses faire après :
Je ne sais pas du tout. On verra si je décide de continuer dans la recherche ou si je découvre une autre passion dans les 3 (ou 4, soyons réalistes) prochaines années. - Ce qui t’a amené à t’investir dans Doctoneuro :
J’ai aidé à organiser la rentrée des M1 à la fin de mon M1. Je n’avais jamais été impliquée avec une association avant, et ça m’a beaucoup plu. - Tes projets/objectifs dans Doctoneuro :
Je veux aider Léa à atteindre ses objectifs, et surtout les gros projets d’animation scientifique. Et je veux absolument continuer sur l’intégration de tous les étudiants dans les projets Doctoneuro, pour la cohésion de la communauté. La première étape est que l’anglais devienne systématique à tous nos évènements. La science est un domaine diversifié, il faut qu’on intègre tout le monde. - Le mot de la fin :
Trop de pression pour les derniers mots ahaha. Mais j’aimerais quand même dire que nous sommes ouverts aux idées de tout le monde, donc n’hésitez pas à nous contacter. Nous sommes là pour nous amuser !
